Your Cat Choking:

I wanted to share this with all of you, this is something that we all can prevent, but if this happens, you need to be prepared - so, tkae a look at this, and keep all of our loved ones safe:

One of the scariest things you can hear is the sound of a cat choking. Even if you're around cats all the time it's still very upsetting. Most of the time it's just something minor like a hairball. While that isn't great news for your carpet, it does mean that your cat will likely be OK. But what if that's not it? Time is of the essence when dealing with a choking cat, and it's hard to know what to do.
Today I'd like to give you some tips on what to do if your cat is choking. Hopefully this will NEVER happen to you, but it can ... and if it does, I want you to know what to do so you can save your cat.
So, what can you do if your cat is choking?
When a person is choking, they do the Heimlich maneuver ... but can you do the same thing for a cat?
Yes, in fact, you can. The famous maneuver that has saved thousands of people is quite similar to the one used for choking cats.
Henry Heimlich was a physician born in the 1920's. He invented a procedure consisting of abdominal thrusts that was designed to treat choking by dislodging things that become "caught" in the upper airway.  The procedure came to be known as the Heimlich maneuver. In the following years, this procedure became the backbone of choking rescue guidelines for humans.
Take a minute today to learn the step-by-step procedure for doing the Heimlich maneuver in cats. It is fairly easy to do, and we have included a video explanation of the procedure.
Finally, one of the biggest things you can do to prevent choking is to keep all small objects that could be swallowed out of your cat's reach. Choose your cat's toys with care and avoid toys with small pieces that can be chewed off and ingested.
Sometimes when emergencies happen we're just too panicked to do the right thing. It happens to the best of us, and sometimes it's best to just head straight to the emergency room. The downside of this, however, is that those visits can be very expensive. If, for example, your cat swallows a piece of string and gags on it, the ER visit alone can come in at hundreds of dollars.
When you're worrying about your cat's health, the last thing you want to have on your mind is the money. That's where pet health insurance comes in. A good plan like those from VPI Pet Insurance can let you rest assured that your pet will get the best care without bankrupting you. The affordable rates mean that you can provide the best for your pet in case something unexpected happens..
