I have come across some information that I wanted to share with all of you regarding the safety of our pets. Now that summer is here, there are a few things that we overlook, this is just a quick reminder for you:
Make sure your pets are protected from Fleas, Ticks, and Heartworms. Make sure they are up to date with all of their vaccination shots. Keep a file with all of your pets information along with the dates, and any medical issues that you have at hand in the event that you need it quickly. Alot of us have more than one pet, and we can't always remember which pet has what going on.
Keep Identification on your Pets at all times. Make sure the information is current at all times. They can so easily run, especially when we are on vacation. They will be in an unknown neighborhood, and they will be scared, keep them safe at all times.
Just like humans, they need good dental hygiene. Try brushing your pets teeth, or giving him snacks that will aid in the remove of plaque. Ask your Vet which dental sevices they provide and when you should use them.
Is your Dog eating grass? Be cautious, if the lawn has been treated with a fertilizer or pesticide, you could have some serious issues. If it has not been treated, don't worry, this may be your pets way of ading in his digestion, or he could have a belly ache.
Summer means sprinklers and showers: and standing water, TRY NOT TO LET YOUR PET DRINK FROM THE PUDDLES, as standing water can be filled with bacteria leading to gastrointestinal upset or other ailments.
Know your pets proper Body weight and feed him properly. Exercising with your pet is good for their figures, and good for their spirit, as well as our spirits.
Just like us, your pet could have allergies also: If you notice your pet cat or dog having issues, sneezing, puffy eyes, itchy skin, contact your vet to explore this and see what your pets problem is.
Make sure your pet has plenty of Clean, Fresh water at all times. The sun has been so hot recently that our pets are always drinking.
And last but none the less, the msot important:
NEVER, EVER LEAVE YOUR PET IN A CAR UNATTENDED FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME.
I RECENTLY READ THAT A PERSON HAS THE RIGHT TO BREAK YOUR WINDOW IF THERE IS AN ANIMAL LEFT UNATTENDED IN A CAR, AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO.
LETS KEEP OUR POOCHES SAFE THIS SEASON, AND ENJOY THEM ALL SUMMER LONG.
